The entertainment area with bar and deck area offers great views of the bush, and the waterhole attracts many animal visitors, both during the day as well as at night when lit up. It is also the perfect place for pre-dinner drinks, discussing your game drive and the animals encountered with fellow guests, or just to relax, unwind and enjoy being away from urbanization and traffic. The lodge offers a central guest bathroom facility as well as ample parking. Two of the chalets have a main en-suite bedroom and second double bedroom. The other three chalets have double en-suite bedrooms of which two have an outside shower as well. All chalets have private patios with beautiful views of the surrounding bushveld. Staff accommodation is available for 9 staff members with their own facilities.

 More about the reserve, Balule Nature Reserve is about 50,000ha. In 2004, the eastern boundary fence was removed and Balule was officially incorporated into the Greater Kruger National Park established in 1898. The Greater Kruger National park together with KNP itself is now an open system that covers over 2 million ha where the animals can wander freely up to Mozambique and Zimbabwe. Balule is home to the Big Five - Lion, Elephant, Rhino, Buffalo and Leopard. In total there are about 94 mammal, 280 bird, 72 reptile and 128 tree species, in the reserve. Even the highly endangered African Wild Dogs and Cheetahs visit regularly. Self-driving is not permitted in Balule, mostly to keep down traffic and avoid guests from getting lost or stuck in the Bush. On Safari with an experienced ranger means successful private sightings without too many vehicles. While the animals are free to wander from Balule into Kruger National Park you have to leave Balule to enter the Park through one of the official KNP gates.
